For the climate curious creatives
what to ask before making the transition into sustainability, plus a free offer.
We each know when something’s off, when the dream just isn’t unfolding like we thought it would. We know it by the way we feel when we wake up each morning.
When I chose to pivot my creative career from advertising to focus primarily on growing Purposerosa and taking on creative consulting work for climate awareness and sustainability projects, I thought it would help me feel more hopeful when I woke up. I was wrong.
Instead of leaning into my creativity and working on dream climate projects that made true impact, In the beginning of my transition, I was busy pitching my services, networking, putting my work “out there”, and searching for a group of people who looked like me in a primarily white/male dominated industry. I yearned for more fun in my creative practice to energize the admin work of pivoting careers.
So, after a year or so of struggling to find my way, I decided to redefine my systems and reimagine how I could begin to infuse joy and rest into my career transition. I’ll share more about how I did that in a separate letter. Looking back, there are a few key questions I wish I’d taken a moment to ask myself before taking the leap:
3 Questions
I wish I’d asked before transitioning into a creative career to sustainability:
when my dream career vision seems impossible, how will I decide whether to rest, keep going, or pivot?
how do I stand out in a rapidly changing climate market?
how will I adapt my creative practice to support all the feels of this career transition?
Sharing these questions with you to consider asking yourself. Because knowing yourself: when your creativity peaks, what your body needs, what your purpose needs, all of that contributes to a more easeful transition into sustainable creating.
I’m offering free creative consultation
For the first 2 weeks of February, I'm providing free creative direction consultation for (6) creative women of color (Directors, Photographers, Filmmakers, Designers, Creative Entrepreneurs, or creative curious people with a specific project in mind) who are looking to transition into the sustainability/climate awareness industry by doing creative marketing.
Why? After shifting from being a Creative Director in advertising to now primarily working on projects with a sustainability focus, I’m creating a program about creativity and climate change that’s going to help creatives transition into sustainability and position themselves in this rapidly developing climate market. I’m sharing everything I know because I *wish* I had a program like this when I decided to transition into sustainability.
Share If you or someone you know is interested in pivoting into sustainability as a creative, click here to schedule a free call. I’ll ask you some questions to make this program the best ever and I will help you get started with taking your first step in positioning yourself as a creative climate contributor.
Let’s make great things :)
